An 18-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting of two teens that left one dead Monday in Tampa.

Ronnie D. Thornton was arrested early Tuesday in the shooting that left one teenager dead and another injured.

One of those teens shot, 17-year-old Corey Gordon, died. The other teen, 14, suffered a non-life threatening injury to his foot.

According to Tampa Police, the teens were shot just after 6 p.m. while in a car near Potter Street and East 21st Avenue. They said there were five people inside a maroon Volkswagen Passat, and the teens were struck with bullets coming from outside the car. The teens got out of the car at the corner of 21st Avenue and 17th Street. Police found the car a block away.

Police say the shooting stemmed from an argument over stolen property.

Thornton has been charged with second degree murder with a firearm, aggravated battery involving great bodily harm, delinquent in possession of a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
