The city began clearing 38 years’ worth of palm trees, bushes, cactus and flowers from a Clearwater front yard.

Jon Daniels, 77, who lives at 1437 Carlos Ave., was cited for violations for right-of-way overgrowth.

The only part of the driveway that had been visible was a narrow path to the front door. The home was almost completely obscured from the road.

Most neighbors said they didn’t mind Daniels’ yard but the city looked into it after receiving an anonymous complaint in February.

A friend of the so-called ‘Jungle Man’ said he’s very upset by the removal of his plants.
