Here's what you need to know about the Bay area weather overnight and into the weekend:

  • Warm, muggy through morning
  • Showers, thunderstorms possible late morning
  • Rain chance increases to 50 percent Sunday

It will be warm and muggy through morning with low temperatures in the mid 70s to 80 degrees.

Saturday will start out mostly sunny with a light southeast wind, and showers or thunderstorms developing along the coast in the late morning. Movement will be very slow, so locally heavy rainfall is possible.

By the afternoon the sea breeze will move inland, so coverage of showers and thunderstorms increase there. With the main wind flow being east-southeast these storms will push back towards the coast in the evening.

The rain chance is 30 percent on Saturday and increases to 50 percent on Sunday as more moisture moves in from Northeast Florida ahead of a frontal boundary that moves south into the Southeast states. Surface high pressure from the western Atlantic extends west across the central Florida peninsula will remain in place through the weekend.

High temperatures for the weekend will be in the low to mid 90s. The overnights will be warm and muggy with low temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and low 80s near the beaches.
