Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd surprised an 80-year-old man with a new donated three-wheeled bike after his was stolen from his front porch.

Photos were posted on the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page with the message: Big thank you to the anonymous donor who wanted to make sure Mr. Whitaker had a bike to replace the one stolen from his front porch. We love seeing our residents smile!

The man, who lives on Swann Drive in Lakeland, had his three wheeled bike stolen on June 6.

The elderly man told deputies he always chains his bike to the front porch area of his home, saying he puts it there to make it easy for him to access – he can’t walk very far and he uses the bike to walk his dog.

Someone took it from the porch sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. on Monday, June 6. The bike is described as being a three-wheeled blue bicycle with a mirror and lights. It also has a basket on the back which had a towel and dog leash in it.

Anyone who may have information about this investigation is urged to contact deputies at 863-298-6200.
