A Polk County 7-month-old girl died Thursday after being accidentally run over by her father’s Ford F-350, Auburndale Police say.

  • Infant in Auburndale was run over Thursday night
  • Yvette, 7 months, died from injuries
  • Police don't think father, who was driving truck, was impaired

Auburndale Police Department responded to the scene shortly after 7 p.m.

According to their reports, the mother, Anayeli Soto, 20, placed her daughter’s car seat carrier just behind the right rear side of the truck while she ran into the home to grab something she had forgotten.

Police say Freddy Flores, 25, the infant’s father, didn't realize where his daughter, Yvette, had been placed. He moved the truck in order for another family member to leave.

"They're unfortunately going to have to live with it their entire lives, and there's nothing they can do probably to shake the memory," said Auburndale Police Lt. Mike Ullom.

Yvette was taken by a Polk County Fire Rescue ambulance to Winter Haven Hospital, where she died, police said.

An investigation is ongoing, though police say Flores did not appear to be impaired at the time.

The Flores family has set up a fund to help pay for funeral and burial expenses.
