At least two people were shot and several other injured during a shooting at a nightclub in Palmetto early Saturday morning, according to police.

The shooting happened inside The Hall nightclub located in the 1300 block of US 301 North at about 2:17 a.m.

According to Palmetto police, someone began firing inside the club for unknown reasons. One man was shot in the chest and taken to Blake Medical. He is expected to be OK, police said. Another man was shot in the leg and taken to Manatee Memorial. He is also expected to be OK.

Investigators say several clubgoers were injured as they fled the club during the shooting. Most of the injuries were cuts and scrapes, but nothing life-threatening, according to police.

Sg. Thomas Smith says investigators are trying to determine exactly how many people were hurt.

So far, no one has been taken into custody. Police say they have received no cooperation from witnesses.
