Sheriff's officials said Wednesday that skeletal remains were found in Port Manatee.

Two Mosquito Control employees were in the woods behind the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission's facility in the area checking for mosquitos when they discovered the remains, according to Sheriff W. Brad Steube.

Authorities said it was unknown how long the remains were at the location. An autopsy will be performed as part of the sheriff's office's investigation.
