St. Petersburg Police have arrested the man they say is responsible for a hit and run that killed 29-year-old Jeron Davis.

  • Jeron Anthony Davis, Taurus Frederick involved in argument June 20
  • Police say Frederick followed Davis in his car and struck him, then fled
  • Frederick, 38, turned himself in on Saturday; no bond Sunday

Taurus Frederick turned himself in to St. Petersburg Police Saturday morning and was denied bond on his first-degree murder charge when he went before a judge on Sunday.

Police said on June 20th, Frederick got in an argument with 29-year-old Jeron Davis in the area of 22nd Avenue and Martin Luther King Junior St. South in St. Petersburg.

They said at some point during the argument, Davis walked off. That’s when police said Frederick got in a car and started following him, then ran him over, jumped out of the car and took off. Davis died at the scene.

For the past month, Davis’ uncle Rodney said his family has been filled with pain.

"It's been horrible because he passed away on the 20th and my twin brother passed away on the 7th of July," Davis said.

While trying to deal with multiple tragedies, Davis said his family had been left wondering when someone would be held responsible for his nephew’s death.

"He was walking away from the situation so why would you follow him and mow him down? It makes no sense, it's senseless," Davis said.

Davis said the family is now holding on to memories.

"Oh, he was a great respectable nephew what sticks out to me is he was a family guy," Davis said.

While the arrest of Taurus Frederick does bring the family some closure, they’re still waiting for justice.

"I wasn't expecting it. I'm glad he turned himself in, I'm really glad because that gives some kind of closure to my family," Davis said.

Frederick is being held at the Pinellas County Jail on a first-degree murder charge but a judge said more charges may be pending.
