A local dance studio is dealing with quite a setback after its trailer full of props was stolen.

  • Trailer stolen while studio owner, dancers away at competition
  • Trailer was on loan from parent of dancer
  • Logo on side of trailer read "Marshall Pest Patrol"

“Ranging from small baseball bats to a 30-foot plane, a full-sized shed, several benches, an American flag, we had several props in that trailer,” said A&G Dance Academy owner Tiffany Avey.

Avey noticed the trailer was missing from behind their studio when she and her dancers returned from a national competition recently. Many of those props were hand-made by dancers and their families.

“I felt really sad and disappointed because we worked so hard to make all those props and now it’s all going to waste,” 8-year-old Marisa Lopez said.

Avey said the props were in a trailer on loan from one of the dance dads. The trailer had his business logo on it that said "Marshall Pest Patrol."  She thinks the thieves might have been looking for equipment they could pawn.

“I’m sure when they opened it to find a 30-foot plane, and a shed, and a lantern and baseball bats,” Avey said. “I’m sure they were surprised that that was not what they were looking for.”

Avey and her dancers just want their stuff back. It’s worth about $3,000 and holds deep sentimental value.

“We just want our stuff back, I mean no questions asked,” Avey said. “It would be great if it would show up on the side of the road or even in the back.”

“It would be great to have it back so the kids could see there’s still some good,” she said.
