Here is the latest weather forecast from Bay News 9:

  • Increasing moisture Friday through weekend
  • Locally heavy rain possible Friday
  • Bay News 9 weather team watching 2 areas in tropics

The drier air made a huge impact Thursday with very few storms and just tons of sunshine. That will change Friday as moisture returns, leading to scattered storms coming back into the region.

Friday morning will start with a few coastal storms possible and lows in the upper 70s to near 80.

There will be a 40 percent coverage of scattered storms during the day into Friday evening.  Highs will be in the low to mid 90s.

There's something of interest in the tropics today: Two areas are being watched in the Atlantic. One is just coming off the coast of Africa and will likely turn northward over the open Atlantic. Even if it did impact land, it is at least seven to 10 days away.

The more recent area is halfway across the Atlantic and is an open wave at this time. But computer models are being run on this wave and show it could move toward the Caribbean or Florida around the middle of next week. If it does, it could begin to bring our rain chances up again around Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
