Here's the Bay Area weather forecast for Saturday:

  • Highs in the low 90s on Saturday
  • Morning storms possible Saturday
  • Sunday storms more likely in evening

Expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms winding down this evening. Winds will continue to be light and variable as high pressure remains above and continues to ridge across the area through at least mid-week.

For the overnight hours, most of the area will remain dry with a slight chance of an isolated storm. But it will feel warm and muggy, with low temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s near the coast and low to mid 70s inland and north.

There is a weak, inverted upper level trough/low that will be moving across South Florida on Sunday, with a slug of dry air moving in behind it. Although the coverage of thunderstorms will lower to a 40 percent chance of rain, a light S/SE flow will prevail with an afternoon sea breeze, turning winds to the west each afternoon and evening.

This will promote scattered thunderstorms to develop each afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s near the coast and lower to mid 90s inland.

Tropical Update

There are two areas of interest that we are monitoring. A tropical wave is located about 500 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and is expected to bring an increase in moisture, with heavy, gusty showers and thunderstorms there.

By mid-week, this tropical wave will be moving into the Western Caribbean approaching the Yucatan Peninsula. Right now it doesn't appear that this system will have a direct impact on our area, but it could help to increase our moisture.

The other area of interest is in the Eastern Atlantic, from a tropical wave that is currently producing disorganized thunderstorms. This wave, however, will be moving into a stable environment in the Central Atlantic that is less conducive for development.
