A Bay area salon is rallying around one of its stylists. Becca Seiler, 25, is suffering from a rare and very serious brain condition.

Seiler, a stylist at La Mirage Salon in Palm Harbor, was diagnosed with Chiari malformation two years ago. On Sunday, August 21, her colleagues will be donating all of the proceeds from services, as well as stylist tips, towards Seiler’s medical bills.

Seiler said her doctor believes the condition is likely the result of neck injuries she suffered as a high school cheerleader.

“My body just doesn’t want to function at the end of the day,” Seiler said.  “Standing for long periods of time, I get very shakey.”

Seiler, who was working full time to pay medical bills, finally had to tell her boss just how serious things had become.

“I’ve always been such a strong person,” Seiler said.  “I never wanted to go in there with 'hey, I’m sick.'”

Salon owner Kellie Robertson immediately took action, organizing a fundraiser to help Becca raise the $10,000 needed for a brain scan in New York.

“We are a family," started Robertson, "and we take care of our own. That’s exactly what we are doing right now."

The fundraiser is set for this Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the salon. The team of stylists have also setup a GoFundMe.com page.

The gesture, Seiler said, is overwhelming.

“It’s one thing to love what I do,” Seiler said.  “But it’s another thing to have my family back me up here and love the people I work with.”
