A 23-year-old Tampa man was killed in a shooting Sunday night.

It happened on the 2500 block of North Albany Avenue shortly after 10 p.m.

According to police, the victim, Chad Pierson, and another man exited a car together near Albany Avenue and W. St. John Street.

After shots were heard, Pierson was seen being chased as he ran toward St. Conrad and Albany. He was shot and collapsed. He later died of his injuries.

This does not appear to be a random shooting, according to police. Police believe the victim and the shooter were known to each other.

Tampa Police continue to investigate the motive of the shooting, as well as the identity of the shooter.
