St. Leo University conducted an online poll that surveyed 1,500 people.

It shows that 79.3 percent of the respondents say they are "very" or "somewhat" concerned about the virus.

Research has also been taking place at the University of Florida.

A team of biostatisticians reports that locally transmitted Zika cases could reach 400 by mid-September.

The study's authors said that the outbreak will remain relatively small and it should be limited to Florida and other southern states with warm climates that attract mosquitos.

They predict the outbreak will peter out by November or December when cooler temperatures move in and reduce the mosquito population.
