A Lakeland man was killed during a multi-car pileup on Interstate 4 Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

  • Matthew Lind, 32, died at the scene
  • Lakeland man likely did not see that traffic had stopped, troopers say
  • No other injuries reported

During rush-hour, traffic was temporarily halted on eastbound I-4. Troopers said that Matthew S. Lind, who was driving a 2014 Mazda 6, didn’t realize the vehicles in front of him had stopped.

The 32-year-old slammed into the Ford F-150 in front of him, causing that vehicle to collide with another.

Troopers say Lind died at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The collision happened near mile marker nine in Hillsborough County.
