Pinellas County deputies are investigating a crash in Largo that occurred early Saturday and involved another Pinellas deputy.

  • Crash occurred on 66th Street at U.S. Highway 19 Frontage Road
  • Investigators believe deputy failed to stay in his lane, sideswiped other car
  • Second driver hospitalized for minor injuries

The crash reportedly occurred around 3:00 a.m. on 66th Street at the intersection with U.S. Highway 19 Frontage Road. Investigators said Deputy Alan Clark, driving northbound in his marked cruiser, failed to maintain his lane as he entered the intersection.

As a result, Clark's cruiser sideswiped the car to his left, driven by 55-year-old Harry Wilson. Due to the impact, Wilson's car went off the roadway onto the grass shoulder, where it came to a complete stop.

According to deputies, Wilson was transported to Northside Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Deputy Clark was uninjured.

At this time, investigators believe alcohol or drug impairment was not a factor in the crash.
