A 93-year-old Cuban American woman who made news when she went from the hospital straight to a polling location in March has died.

Dalia Giancarlo had voted in every election since she became a naturalized citizen at 21 years old. Her family said she was looking forward to casting her vote again in November.

Her daughter-in-law, Rhoda Garcia, sent us this e-mail on Sunday.

"Dalia Giancarlo wanted so badly to vote in the presidential election this fall. Regretfully, she passed away at 2 a.m. this morning. She leaves behind four children and their spouses, numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren, all of whom will miss her."

Giancarlo said she voted to ensure the future for her 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
