A kitten was rescued from the Howard Frankland Bridge Sunday morning thanks to a team effort from one driver and first responders.

  • Kitten thrown or fell from moving vehicle
  • Driver stopped to help but cat became lodged in wheel well
  • FHP, St. Pete FD and a Road Ranger helped free cat

According to FHP, 41-year-old Claudette Zoll, of Lithia, was traveling on the bridge northbound at the 34 milepost, when she saw a kitten fall out of a moving truck.

Zoll stopped to rescue the kitten but it ran under her car and became lodged in her wheel well.

FHP, the St. Pete Fire Department and a Road Ranger responded to remove the cat safely.

The kitten only suffered a minor cut.

The truck was only described as old and brown with a silver metal topper. It’s unclear whether the cat was thrown from the moving vehicle.

Zoll said she is going to keep the kitten and named her "Miracle."
