Ferg's Sports Bar, located in downtown St. Petersburg near Tropicana Field, had been shut down after inspectors found more than 40 violations.

In state documents, inspectors noted bugs in the kitchen area, roach and rodent sightings, possible maggot in a beer bottle bucket and hazardous food preparation practices.

Friday morning, the restaurant's marketing and events manager stated in a released that Ferg's was back in business.

"This was the first time in 24 years that we had such violations," Eddie Peters wrote. "We took immediate action to rectify the situation."

A health department inspector was back at the restaurant Friday morning, and the mandatory shutdown was lifted shortly after 9 a.m.

"We are committed to providing a safe, healthy and quality experience for our many customers," Peters said.
