An upper level disturbance is moving across south Florida.

  • Temperatures Sunday will quickly climb to the 90s
  • Chance of showers Sunday afternoon and evening
  • Typical summer pattern for this upcoming week

Clouds will decrease into daybreak. Temperatures will drop to the mid and upper 70s around Tampa Bay to the low 70s for the Nature Coast.

On Monday, surface high pressure will continue to be centered just northeast of the area.

This will keep southeast flow across the state. This flow will just be strong enough to hold the west coast sea breeze boundary right near the coast, or just offshore on Monday afternoon. Showers and storms will start on the Atlantic side of the state and will move west. Storms will focus along that line.

If the sea breeze is just offshore, then storms will focus out in the Gulf waters by late afternoon. The morning hours will be dry and the temperatures will climb into the 90s again.  Even areas near to the coast will not benefit from the cooling sea breeze, since it won't make any progress inland.

Into Tuesday, the breeze will be strong enough to limit sea breezes to near the coast, focusing the greatest shower/storms coverage there in the afternoon and early evening.
