Workers at the Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Office are prepping for early voting.

Workers are testing equipment ahead of what is expected to be a busy period of early voting for the presidential election.

Hillsborough Supervisor of Election Craig Latimer said back-up equipment also is being tested just in case their are problems.

"(We have) test deck, its ballots have been marked," Latimer said. "We know exactly how they're marked, they include overvotes and undervotes and votes in every single position on the ballot.

"So what we do is going to take this test ballot and feed it into the machines to make sure the machines does in fact count accurately."

The county will begin sending out mail-in ballots to area voters next week.

Early voting begins Oct. 24.
