Drivers in downtown St. Petersburg and east Tampa should prepare for extra traffic on Monday due to MLK Day events.

The 32nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Dream Big" parade is taking place at 11 a.m. 

Traffic is expected to be impacted between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. 

The parade will start on Central Avenue and Second Street and finish near Tropicana Field's parking lot 1. Also, there will be a Family Fun Day at Tropicana Field from 2:30 to 8 p.m. 

St. Pete police are encouraging drivers to use streets west of 16th Street after 10:30 a.m. Drivers also are encouraged to use 28th Street and Interstate 275 to get around the parade.

Meanwhile, the MLK Day parade in Tampa will take place Monday beginning at noon, traveling from 15th Street and 21st Avenue northward to 22nd Street and Osborne Ave, near Middleton High School. 

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
