Fire destroyed a home in Winter Haven early Sunday morning, displacing a mother and her teenage daughter.

According to authorities, Polk County Fire Rescue and Winter Haven Fire Department crews arrived at 1129 26th St NW in Winter Haven, around 2:40 a.m.

All occupants of the home were accounted for, but firefighters say the flames were intense -- even threatening a neighboring home.  

They began an 'exterior attack to prevent extension.'

Red Cross was called to assist the family with food, shelter and clothing.
