Two people were shot at a Pasco County trailer park within two weeks of each other. Both people are recovering.

However, the area is no stranger to police.

  • More than 130 police service calls in community
  • Woman struck in head by bullet Monday
  • Detectives still looking for culprit

Monday morning, investigators said a woman was struck in the head by a bullet while sleeping in a trailer at Lacoochee Trailer Park.

"I heard three loud pops, maybe four, and I just cringed," said Lena White.

It was a sound that terrified White, whose home was also recently shot at eight days before and only four lots down.

White said her trailer was shot at three times. "A guy that was sleeping on the couch, which was my son's friend, got off the couch and I noticed the stuffing out of my couch, and I'm like, 'Oh my God.' That's when I realized he was shot," said White.

White said her son's friend was shot in the neck and is recovering. But her grandchildren, on the other hand, are not.

"The little ones won't sleep on the couch or sit on the couch at night when it gets dark," White said. "They sit on the floor."

White moved back to the park in August and said nothing this severe has happened. But a record search shows the community is frequented by police, with over 130 calls for service since January 2015.

"It's just a sad situation. Everyone has to live in fear because you don't know who's going to come up or who's going to do what," said White.

Detectives are still searching for a culprit in the shootings and don't believe the two are related at this time.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
