Bay area leaders are celebrating the newest addition to Clearwater Beach.

  • Wyndham Grand hotel opens on Clearwater Beach
  • Officials celebrating grand opening on Wednesday
  • New Wyndham hotel bringing 300 jobs to Pinellas County

Wednesday is the grand opening of the Wyndham Grand. It’s the second largest hotel on Clearwater Beach.

“We have all the confidence in the world that this is going to be a great hotel and we can’t wait to welcome people,” said Wyndham Grand Marketing Manager Alison Duncan.

The contemporary hotel has more than 300 guest rooms. Many of the rooms offer beach-front views. The average cost is $250 a night.

For those who want to splurge, there’s also a penthouse suite. It runs an average of $5000 a night.

Tourism leaders believe the Wyndham brand will lure new visitors to Clearwater Beach. It’s already bringing new jobs to the area.

“It’s great and it’s awesome that we have a glamorous opening, but when we think that the hotel alone is going to employ up to 300 people full-time, 80 percent are already on the payroll, that’s what it comes down to. It’s about economic impact for people in Pinellas County,” said David Downing, the executive director of Visit St. Pete/ Clearwater.

On Saturday evening, there will be a beach party in front of the hotel at Clearwater Beach to celebrate the grand opening. The public is invited.

The Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach has also started taking reservations. Guests can begin staying at the hotel as early as Jan. 24.
