For its final day, the Armed Forces Muesum is offering free admission to all visitors from noon to 4 p.m.

  • Armed Forces Museum offers free admission on last day
  • Free admission is from noon-4 p.m. Jan. 29
  • The museum was operating in the red

Steven Piazza, son of the museum’s late founder and president, John J. Piazza Sr., will say a few words at noon Jan. 29, outdoors at the museum’s flag area, then doors will open immediately following.

The museum is closing because it can no longer operate in the red. The only way for it to survive is for someone to buy it outright or buy the collection and house it in a different location.

According to the museum's website, it was founded in 2008 with a goal of "preserving military history and providing education to the public of the many sacrifices made to protect our freedom."

The museum's board of directors is continuing with efforts to save the museum. After it closes, the museum will remain intact until the end of March.

The Armed Forces Museum is at 34th Way North in Largo.
