The pirates are invading Tampa.
Last weekend, the Gasparilla Children's Parade marched down Bayshore Boulevard. On Saturday, it's the big kids' turn as the Gasparilla invasion sails into Tampa and pirates parade on Bayshore and into downtown.
On Tuesday, the captain of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and his mates descended upon the city.
They had already sent a warning letter to Tamp Mayor Bob Buckhorn commanding him to negotiate a surrender or be prepared to face their wrath.
Fortunately, today's meeting is just part of the historic Gasparilla tradition, which has taken place in one form or another since 1904.
The pirates rolled into Tampa Tuesday morning to the sound of cannon fire. They "discussed" the advantages of Mayor Buckhorn surrendering the key to the city before Saturday's invasion.
