You don’t have to travel 500 miles to see the culture and colors of Cuba -- just stop by the Dunedin Fine Art Center.

  • Dunedin Fine Art Center is hosting two Cuban exhibits
  • On Feb. 10 the Center's Viva Cuba! Festival Cubano will feature food, art
  • Art exhibits run through March 14

Its Oye Como Va exhibit showcases paintings, sculptures, prints and animations from Cuban artists.

"It’s just so topical with the renewed relations with Cuba and hopefully our continued renewed relationship,” curator Catherine Bergmann said. “It’s an opportunity to reunite with our neighbors to the south."

The exhibit is more than a year in the making. A group from the arts center, including Bergmann, traveled to Cuba in November 2015 with the idea of one day having a Cuban art exhibit.

Oye Como Va’s companion exhibit, Cuba: New Eyes features photographs taken by local photographers during their travels to Cuba.

"I hope that it’s just the beginning of a love affair with the country that it was for us who had a chance to travel there,” Bergmann said.

The exhibits run through March 14.

The arts center is hosting Viva Cuba! Festival Cubano on Feb. 10 from 7 - 10 p.m. It will feature food, music, art, dance and fashion. Tickets are $55 for members and $75 for non-members.
