According to acting Haines City Police Chief Jay Hopwood, Mandy Nicole Guzman, 30, was shot in the stomach following a confrontation in the Walmart on US Hwy 27 and Southern Dunes Blvd just after 11:30 a.m.

Police say Guzman got into an argument with Yajaira Rivera, 37, while inside the store.

The pair parted ways, police say, and Guzman completed her shopping, then loaded her belongings and children into her vehicle.

She was in the process of pushing her cart to the cart return rack when police say Rivera shot her. They have reportedly known each other for 'a few years.'

When paramedics and officers arrived, Guzman was reportedly in the passenger seat of her car suffering from a gunshot wound. She was conscious and stable when airlifted to the hospital, Chief Hopwood said.

Authorities also say her children were not injured during the shooting, and police don't believe they witnessed the crime.

Yajaira Rivera reportedly turned herself in to her attorney Thursday evening. She's currently being booked into jail on attempted homicide charges.
