Citrus County officials announced Friday that the Salvation Army Cold Night Shelter will open on January 7 and 8 due to low forecast temperatures over those two nights.

The shelter is located at 712 S. School Avenue in Lecanto. It will open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

In addition, a bus service will be made available to transport individuals to the shelter. Pick up will be at 6:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday evenings at the Connections Building at the corner of Route 486 and Route 41 in Hernando.

The bus will then return Sunday and Monday morning at 7 a.m. The service will be free.
