The Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrested a 14-year-old Port Richey boy Friday on attempted murder charges and child abuse.

The 14-year-old is accused of attempting to kill a 4-month-old boy, officials said. 

Officials said the 4-month-old was left in the care of the teen at a home in Port Richey. 

According to the report, the boy, who we are not identifying in accordance with our Crime Guidelines, tried to suffocate and kill the baby by placing him face down on a bed and putting a pillow on top of his head. 

Detectives said in an interview the teen admitted to intentionally placing the victim face down with a pillow over the back of the his head, intending to kill the baby. 

According to the report, the teen said he sat down on a couch and watched the victim struggle to roll over to prevent from being suffocated. 

He said he left the baby in that position for about five to ten minutes until the parents of the 4-month-old returned home and found the victim face down with a pillow over his head.
