Police in Tarpon Springs are investigating the discovery of a body in a wooded area near Safford Avenue on Sunday.

Officials said Tarpon Springs Police officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 9:25 a.m. regarding "a person down" in the 600 block of N. Safford Avenue.
Upon arrival, they found a deceased male in an apparent homeless camp the man shared with two others. It was those two subjects who discovered the body and called 911 from a nearby gas station.
Officers are investigating the incident as a suspicious death. The identity of the man has not been released, and the cause of death is pending an investigation by the county medical examiner's office.
