A pedestrian was hit and killed Saturday night in Hillsborough County.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Memorial Highway.

Deputies said Steve Jaimes, 34, was walking southbound on Memorial Highway along the center of the inside lane. According to a witness, Jaimes was stumbling in the roadway and did not respond to horns honking as other vehicles swerved around him.

Deputies said due to poor lighting and Jaimes walking in the roadway, Angel Rivera, 23, struck Jaimes with the center front of his Toyota Camry.

Deputies said Jaimes died at the scene and no charges are expected.
