Adventure Island is set to add drop slides in 2018, the water park announced Tuesday.

  • Vanish Point drop slides coming to Adventure Island
  • Skyboxes atop 70-foot tower
  • Ride set to open March 2018

The new attraction called Vanish Point will feature two drop-floor skyboxes that are at the top of a 70-foot tower. From there, guests will “drop” via 425-foot-long spiraling tubes. Guests will be pushed through the slides by more than 1,000 gallons-a-minute of water, park officials said.

“Whether you choose to have the floor drop from beneath your feet, or race to the bottom on a looped slide, the only way down once you get to the top is a wild ride that gets your heart pumping,” said Steward Clark, president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island.

Vanish Point will be located next to Colossal Curl, a popular thrill slide.

The launch for the new drop slide is from the same tower used for Colossal Curl, design and engineering director Andrew Schaffer revealed in a Facebook Live on Tuesday.

Construction for Vanish Point is currently underway.

Vanish Point is set to debut in March, just in time for Adventure Island’s 2018 season opening.
