The St. Petersburg election is still almost three weeks away, but mail in ballots are already showing how interested voters are in the mayoral race.

  • Mail in ballots showing insight into St. Pete mayoral race
  • 264K mail in ballots were sent out; a quarter of them mailed back so far
  • Kriseman and Baker currently in a tight race

Pinellas County election officials said the numbers are encouraging. With more than 264,000 mail in ballots sent out, a quarter of them have already been mailed back.

That percentage is a higher return than in the mayoral race four years ago.

The mail in ballots also show that, based on party, Mayor Rick Kriseman and former Mayor Rick Baker are in a tight race.

"Well I think there's a lot of people that are really interested in this election and in the future of this city," Kriseman said.

Baker said, "We're getting support from Republicans, Democrats. None of that matters to the folks we're talking to."

You can turn in your mail in ballots all the way up to election day on November 7.
