Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, with a look conditions through Friday.

  • Still breezy into Thursday
  • Tropical wave passing
  • Increasing rain chances

It was another breezy day, with mainly dry conditions until we had a few passing showers late. The breezy conditions will persist into Thursday as the pressure gradient is still very strong between high pressure to our north and lower pressure to our south.

There will be a decrease in showers for the morning with partly cloudy skies and lows in the low to mid 70s. However, there is a tropical wave that will pass overhead Thursday, resulting in a significant increase in moisture.

That tropical wave actually has a small chance of developing into a small depression as it passes, but it would not change our weather.

Either way we expect a big push of moisture, especially in the afternoon to evening, with scattered heavy downpours moving in from the east. Any of those showers will contain very strong wind gusts that could exceed 40 mph.

That, combined with the extra cloud cover, will result in lower highs holding in the mid 80s.

After that point we will see waves of showers with intervals of clouds into Friday. It will not be a total washout, but there will be times that we get heavy rains and other times where it’s just partly sunny and quiet.

Expect the humidity to increase, and it will feel more like September again with a muggy feel. Highs on Friday will be in the upper 80s.

All eyes then will turn to the tropical system down in the Caribbean that will be moving north into the Gulf this weekend.
