New details have come out in the murder case of Janessa Shannon, 13, who's father is charged in her death.

Janessa's body was found in the Triple Creek Nature Preserve this past July. Her father, Nashon Shannon, was arrested and charged this week in her death.

An 11 page document shows the forensic evidence investigators collected in the three months since Janessa's body was found.

The 13-year-old girl was buried in a black trash bag sealed with clear tape. The report said she had a broken nose and fractures above her teeth, and that she was possibly strangled.

The report also said Janessa had alcohol and cocaine in her body.

When investigators searched her Nashon's home, dirt recovered from his Jeep was a 99 percent match to the dirt from Janessa's grave site. The report said the Jeep's tire tracks are also consistent with the ones found leading to the grave. Detectives also found a shovel in the garage that had two missing screws, and crime scene technicians had found a matching screw near Janessa's body.

Nashon originally told investigators his girlfriend, Beena Nair, was with him the night Janessa went missing, but Nair stated she wasn't there. Later review of Nair's phone revealed a text message from Nashon instructing her to leave the home that night.

Investigators said Nashon also lied to them when he said he had been in contact with his daughter via Facebook after she vanished from his home. However, records reveal no such messages after she was reported missing.

Despite the evidence found, Nashon's girlfriend still believes he is innocent, and spoke out for the first time since Janessa's body was found.

"I'm a mother. I would not stand by somebody who I thought was capable of doing something like that to their child," Nair said.

Nair has been dating Nashon Shannon for a little more than a year and a half, getting to see the bond between father and daughter over that time.

"If you spend an hour with them, just one thing you get out of that interaction is, wow that man was meant to be a dad," she said.

Nair said she was heartbroken when Nashon was arrested Thursday and made his first court appearance on Friday.

"It was scary, and I'm just, I'm just, they don't have the right man, they don't," Nair said.

The last time anyone saw Janessa was on July 1. According to the sheriff's office, Janessa and her father got into a fight about some behavioral issues and the next day she was gone.

Nashon reported Janessa missing 48 hours later because they thought she had just run away.

"We still held out hope. It never even occurred to us that it could be more than she just ran away," Nair explained.

Nair was not at Nashon's home the night Janessa went missing. And while Janessa's mother has bee very vocal that deputies have the right man, Nair does not believe the man she knows could have done this.
