Testimony is expected to continue Monday as prosecutors bring additional witnesses to the stand.
Matos, 32, is accused of killing former girlfriend Megan Brown, her new boyfriend Nicholas Leonard, and Brown's parents in late August 2014. Prosecutors believe jealousy may have been the motive for the murders.
On Thursday, the jury watched surveillance video from a Pasco County Walmart of a man buying a shovel. The cashier in the video testified in court that he thought the purchase was unusual, given it was late at night.
The cashier also identified Matos as the man who bought the shovel.
The jury also listened to testimony from the brother of the Brown family's neighbor. Alan McCann was visiting his brother during the days after the murders and said he spoke with Matos multiple times.
McCann told jurors that Matos acted completely normal but the only thing that seemed out of place was an overwhelming odor in the neighborhood. McCann said he thought their was some road kill in the neighborhood.
Investigators found the four bodies in a wooded area not far from the Brown home several days after the murders.
Matos faces the death penalty if convicted.
