  • 3 struck, 2 killed after hit by vehicle on Providence Road
  • Driver of vehicle may face charges, pending toxicology

The crash happened on Providence Road just north of Providence Ridge Boulevard. The three adults were struck by one vehicle, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Tanaysha Troutman, Victoria Patten, and Arlene Stephanie Jordan Cruz stopped their vehicles in the median turn lane of Providence Road just after 10:30 p.m.

They were standing outside of their vehicles arguing when all three walked into the southbound median travel lane of Providence Road and were struck by a 2005 Hyundai, which was traveling south at approximately 40 miles per hour.

Deputies did not indicate why the group stopped along the road or what they were arguing about.

Troutman, 28, and Patten, 23, died at the scene. Jordan, 38, was transported to Tampa General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, had an odor of alcohol on his breath and admitted to having consumed beer earlier in the evening, deputies said.

He submitted to a blood draw, charges are pending the toxicology report.
