People from across the country turned out in Clearwater on Tuesday to pay their respects to Major League Baseball great Roy Halladay, who was killed in a plane crash eight days ago

"Thank you for being a part of our celebration of the life of Roy Halladay."

More than 2,000 people filled the stands at Spectrum Field for the public memorial service to remember the legend.

The speakers were followed by Halladay's father and his wife, Brandy.

"I knew from the first moment I saw him that I was going to spend the rest of my life with him, and I still know that he is my person," Brandy Halladay said.

The National Transportation Safety Board is handling the investigation into the crash.
