A wrong-way driver that caused a serious injury multi-vehicle crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway has been arrested.

Tampa Police said Collin John Cole, 26, hit four vehicles Friday night around 11 p.m., causing serious injuries to two people. 

Police said Cole was traveling west on the Courtney Campbell Causeway in a Ford F150 and struck the rear of a Hyundai Santa Fe just east of Ben T Davis Beach. Cole did not stop, police said, and fled west on the Causeway in the eastbound lanes driving the wrong way. 

Just west of Ben T Davis Beach, the Ford truck struck the front of a Ford Mustang and continued westbound hitting a Honda Pilot in a head-on collision. Police said the Ford deflected off of the Honda Pilot and caused a second head-on collision with a Honda Accord. 

One crash victim remains in critical condition and another is in serious condition. 

Cole was charged with DUI with serious bodily injury (2 counts), DUI with property damage, and leaving the scene of a crash with damage.
