This Thanksgiving, as police search for the Seminole Heights gunman, neighbors have been more determined than ever to move forward with their holiday plans.

Residents Elizabeth Campbell and husband Doug Carter spent most of Wednesday prepping their Seminole Heights home for family and friends. They hold a Thanksgiving celebration every year.

Although the last deadly shooting, which took the life of 60-year-old Ronald Felton, took place blocks away from their home, the couple said they never thought twice about canceling their plans.

“Things happen everywhere, so I don’t think you can change your life just because of one individual who is doing awful things,” said Campbell.

The couple said they have taken some precautions since the last shooting, however. Doug stopped walking his dogs outside in the early morning hours, for example -- he lets them loose in the backyard instead.

This Thanksgiving, the couple said their hearts go out to the families of the victims who were killed. They said they’re also very thankful for police who are constantly patrolling the neighborhood in search for the gunman.
