A large hole has opened up on a busy roadway in Valrico.

  • Sewer line break leads to hole in Valrico roadway
  • Hole on Nature's Way Boulevard that leads into the Cambridge Cove neighborhood
  • Crews working on sewer repair; will have to fill hole, repave road

Maintenance crews have been on scene since early Friday morning assessing the hole on Nature's Way Boulevard that leads into the Cambridge Cove neighborhood.

Officials said the hole is about the size of a car and four to five feet deep.

The hole formed after a sewer line broke underground.

Early Friday, crews fed a camera into the sewer line to figure out exactly where the pipe broke. That will help them figure out how extensive a repair may be needed.

The roadway will remain blocked for the time being, slowing traffic on the road that is a main loop that goes around the entire subdivision. Residents will still be able to get in and out.

There is no timetable on when the road will be reopened.

Crews will have to complete repairs on the sewer line, fill the hole and then repave the road.
