Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota is requesting one million dollars from the state to build more labs.

The facility houses 200 staff members, 24 research programs, and countless marine life. Mote says they have gotten crafty to make it work, but now they need extra space.
"I just converted, last year, the woman's restroom on the first floor into a research laboratory. I'm converting closets into offices and research laboratories," Dr. Michael Crosby said.
By the beginning of next year, Mote plans to announce a new facility that will house a new aquarium for the pblic, while expanding the building into more labs.
