The commission approved changes to the existing Largo Code of Ordinances Chapter 4, Subsection 4-1(D) dealing with Sunday alcohol sales. Previously, the ordinance prohibited the sale of alcohol for off-site consumption before 11 a.m.

That 11 a.m. rule matched Pinellas County restrictions until earlier this year, when the county commission unanimously passed an ordinance allowing restaurants and stores to sell alcohol on Sundays starting at 8 a.m.

It was left to individual municipalities within the county whether or not to pass local ordinances to match the county's rule. Largo's modification to their existing ordinance now provides the same restrictions as Pinellas County and other surrounding cities.

The commission also approved changes that will allow microbreweries, micro-distilleries and regional breweries to sell alcohol in facilities zoned for industrial use.

The changes went into effect on Nov. 7.
