With the Christmas shopping rush on, the US Postal service is reminding shoppers of the holiday hours for shipping.
Postal facilities throughout the Bay area are either opening and/or extending their hours leading up to Christmas Day.
According to USPS, Monday, Dec. 18, will be the busiest mailing and shipping day for holiday packages, letters and cards. That same day is also expected to be the Postal Service’s busiest day online, with more than 7 million customers predicted to visit usps.com.
Thursday, Dec. 22, is then expected to be the busiest delivery day for holiday packages, cards, and letters. The Postal Service anticipates more than 30 million packages alone will be delivered just that day.
The Post Office expects to deliver a total of approximately 16 billion cards, letters, flats, and packages during the holiday season.
In addition, the USPS projects approximately 750 million packages will be delivered between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, an increase of 12 percent over last year’s volume.
In addition, several Bay area Post Offices not listed already offer retail hours on Saturdays and/or Sundays and after 5 p.m.
