The victim of a Sunday night shooting in Clearwater was a wife and mother who was expecting her second child.

Clearwater Police said Elizabeth Rosado, 30, of Palm Harbor was killed in a drive-by shooting that happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Scranton Avenue.

  • 30-year-old Elizabeth Rosado identified as victim
  • Family members say she was taking brother home from church
  • She was wife, mother, FSU grad
  • Suspect's vehicle may be a white Cadillac, police said

Her brother, Oscar Gonzalez, said things had been coming together for the 2009 Florida State University graduate.

"She's finally getting everything, settling down," Gonzalez said. "And then for this to happen. Ridiculous."

Rosado was a passenger in a Nissan Sentra when she was shot. Her husband and 10-year-old daughter, along with Rosado's younger brother, were also inside the car but not injured.

Family members said Rosado was doing her parents a favor and giving him a ride home from church.

But they came upon a white sedan stopped in the middle of the street, waited a few moments and tried to pull around. That's when someone pulled out a gun and shot Rosado in the head, police said.

She died at the scene, just a few doors down from where the rest of her family was waiting.

"She had no enemies, nothing," Gonzalez said. "She was a good person. Everyone was great for her, so it doesn't make any sense."

Officials said it was unclear if the suspect and shooting victim had any connection.

Gonzalez said Rosado had been happy to move away from the area.

"She got married and moved to Palm Harbor to get away from stuff like this," Gonzalez said. "She doesn't even live here and for that to happen to her, it doesn't make any sense for her to go out like that. None at all. She's doing everything right."

Belleair Road was closed between Myrtle Avenue and MLK Jr Avenue during the investigation.
