A Polk County attempted murder suspect was arrested Wednesday night. 

Jahmari McCray, 18, was taken into custody in the Gordonville-Bartow area. 

Investigators said McCray shot a 62-year-old woman on Dec. 10 while she was sitting in a car in a Circle K parking lot on Spirit Lake Road in Winter Haven. 

McCray was booked into the Polk County jail and faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm in public, and VOP. 

The victim is still recovering from her injuries and deputies said nothing was stolen from the woman. 

The Polk County Sheriff's Office plans to release more information on the incident later this morning.
