While wild weather stayed far away from Tampa International Airport during the historically busy post-Christmas rush, it didn't stop the departure boards from showing much more red than green.

“On the way down was a five-hour delay in New Orleans and we’re looking at a half hour here. No justice right? Should be the other way around," said traveler Dave Jorstad while waiting for his flight to Minnesota.

The airport reported nearly 150 flight delays throughout the day. Many of them were keeping passengers waiting in the terminal late into the night.

Traveler Cassie Schultz was doing her best to stay calm while chasing her 1-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son.

“It was depressing a little bit getting here, but at the same time we got to spend Christmas with our families," she said.

The delays are reportedly from wintry weather in the upper midwest and northeast.

Schultz' flight was supposed to take off at 10 p.m., but being the final one of the night to Connecticut, she's facing a 2 hour delay.

“I don’t want our flights to get canceled!" added Schultz. "We don’t have work tomorrow, but we do have to the day after, so being able to travel today as opposed to tomorrow is definitely the better of the two."

The travel delays trickled all across the Sunshine State on Tuesday. While many were due to weather, Orlando International saw lengthy delays after a passenger tried to bring a loaded gun through a airport security checkpoint.

But despite the headaches that come with flying, these Tampa travelers know how to look on the bright side.

“It beats driving! So we’re enjoying it," Jorstad added, while sitting down at a table to eat.
