19-year-old woman killed after losing control of motorcycle, crashing

Tampa police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash Wednesday morning.

April Havens, 19, died after she lost control of her motorcycle and crashed. 

Witnesses told police that Havens was speeding down N. 30th Street and when she passed the railroad tracks, the bike began to wobble and Havens lost control of the vehicle, causing the motorcycle to hit a curb.

Havens was ejected from the bike and the motorcycle continued south, hitting a parked vehicle in a Holiday Inn parking lot. Police said no one was in the parked vehicle at the time of the crash. 

Havens was transported to Florida Hospital-Fletcher where she was pronounced deceased. Police also said Havens was wearing a helmet. 

The crash remains under investigation.
